I am interested in learning about most influential and powerful women that we know of and heared of. Please exclude mum's aunt's grandma's and sisters, those are already powerful enough in our lives. Examples can be German Chancellor, Phillipino President, Marie Curie, and sorts, so just give a name and why you think that person is powerful. Best answer….10points!
Has to be Rachel Carson. Her book, Silent Spring, was instrumental in getting the United States (which is often behind - as far as leading nations - in this type of legislation) to ban certain pesticides.
Wikipedia mentions that she "was an American marine biologist and nature writer whose landmark book, Silent Spring, is often credited with having launched the global environmental movement. "

I would have to say Lisa Ling. She is a reporter that puts herself in dangerous situations to get the facts of how other society's and nations really are. She is a brave intelligent woman who brings the truth out of situations and brings great awareness.

Oprah Winfrey. No seriously. She was voted the most influential woman in the world. What she says is in suddenly becomes in. She hosts THE most famous talkshow that almost every housewife around the world watches!! Even celebrities are honored to appear on her show!

You are looking for power and success…right? And you want female examples…right? Well, much as I hate to, I'd have to offer up Oprah. She embodies those two words unlike any other. Self made, most influential and her name alone can sky rocket careers and businesses.
Do I like her as a person - at least what I've read and can tell from tv? No. Do I respect her and her choices and how she conducts herself? No. But those weren't the questions. There are many, many other women who have far more worth as good human beings and examples of how we should live our lives…but you didn't ask for that. I can't imagine another woman who could be more philanthropic, influential or powerful. Hillary Clinton is pretty close to being in the same category, but she is not self made. And her name does not carry the same clout that Oprah's does…

Academy: Drew Gilpin Faust, president of Harvard University.
