I heard a Larouche guy yell this, it kinda made sense. Everything he said afterwards didn’t, though.
Instead of giving poor people real tools to help themselves out of their situation, philanthropy keeps them pacified with carefully measured hand-outs and the false hope that things will just magically get better one day. Thus pacified, the masses won’t revolt.
